How to thrive in The Void:

Place dirt, plant sapling, make sure sapling is near a light source, wait for sapling to grow.

Harvest tree for wood, gather more saplings.

Mine some deepslate and use it to make a stone pickaxe.

Right click your wooden tools to launch yourself into the air.

Locate an ore island and find some iron.

 

 

You do not need food in the void.
